Who we are

STS has stood for outstanding pressure measurement technology since 1987. What began as a specialist for piezoresistive pressure sensors is now an internationally active family business with headquarters in Sirnach, Switzerland. With over 130 qualified employees, we develop and manufacture high-precision and durable sensor solutions - individually tailored to demanding applications in the process industry.

Our product portfolio includes sensors for measuring pressure, level, temperature and flow. In our innovation factory in Sirnach, we create customer-specific solutions that combine technical precision with many years of experience and consistent customer focus. The sensors are developed, calibrated and tested here - for reliable use under the toughest conditions.

Since 2022, an additional development and production site in the USA has complemented our global structure. Together with subsidiaries in Germany, Italy, France, the UK, China and the USA, STS is now internationally positioned - and at the same time close to our customers' applications. Because at STS, every solution begins with a clear understanding of the respective requirements.

The bold visionaries behind this company were Alfred Schneider, Hans-Peter Müller, Jens Bomholt and Michael von Ritter. In the early days, the team devoted themselves exclusively to research and often cycled to work.

STS took part in the Sensor '88 trade fair in Nuremberg to promote its first product launch, which met with a positive response.

A stroke of luck

1989

Sometimes luck favors the brave. The financial restructuring of a competitor enabled STS to acquire used machines at a good price and secure a major order from a leading German excavator manufacturer.

Broadening horizons

1991

With this important economic support, STS was able to expand its radius of action, establish contacts, secure loans and find strategic locations. Production in Sirnach in Switzerland flourished and the trucks were full of products. In 1991, J. Bomholt left the company and L. Séchy became the new CEO.

Italian expansion

STS opens the Italian sales office, headed by Eraldo Saghetti. Our rapid growth has been driven by constant learning and a relentless thirst for knowledge. Co-founder Michael von Ritter emphasized the importance of trust and appreciation: "I want my employees to feel comfortable at STS".

The new STS building was completed. Important sensor technology components were developed and produced in the two-storey building. By this time, the company had grown to 30 employees in Switzerland and 20 employees in Italy.
